چکیده

Flash floods have been blamed for significant losses and destruction all around the world are widely, including Vietnam, a developing nation that has particularly hard hit by climate change. Therefore, flash flood hazards essential reducing risks. The topographic wetness index (TWI), altitude, slope, aspect, rainfall, land cover, normalized difference vegetation (NDVI), distances to rivers roads, flow length were used in this study create spatial database of ten exploratory factors influencing occurrence Ngan Sau Pho river basins (North-Central Vietnam). Subsequently, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was applied calculate weights these factors. threat then mapped using GIS techniques. validation involved 151 inventory sites total. findings demonstrate (i) distance from (0.14) TWI greatest influence on flooding, whereas roads (0.06) NDVI found least influence; (ii) good conformity 84.8 percent between moderate very high levels hazard areas also discovered; (iii) covering 275 621.1 km 2 mainly detected along close main streams, respectively. These results demonstrated effectiveness techniques, AHP, Landsat-8 remote sensing data mapping.

Evaluation of Matched Filter method for wind erosion mapping Landsat 8 OLI Imagery, (Central and North West province of Khuzestan)

Successful target detection, especially if there is a similarity between the target and the background area, always is a noticeable issue in remote sensing studies. Because of the spectral behavior similarity to the other phenomena and spatial distribution of these units, the mapping of wind erosion units is difficult. Thus, this study attempts to detect the favorable areas by using matched fil...

Floodplain Hazard Mapping in the Iranshahr River by Using Two-Dimensional Numerical Modelling and GIS

Today, the preparation of flood zoning maps is one of the basic and important issues in the study of development projects in the world; it is considered before any investment by the related organizations. In this paper, flood zoning was performed using the two-dimensional model HEC-RAS and GIS in order to assess the risk of the construction of a railway station near the bank of the Iranshahr Ri...

Flood hazard zoning in the Ilam city using AHP and GIS

Developing urbanization and changing hydrological conditions of natural streams increases the flooding risk. This study tries to do flood hazard zoning in the Ilam city and determine the critical area of the urban regions against flooding by using AHP method and GIS environment. For this purpose, the parameters of the curve number, height, distance from the river, geology, land use, population,...

Flood Hazard Mapping using Aster Image data with GIS

Flood is one of the most devastating natural hazards which lead to the loss of lives, properties and resources. It has therefore become important to create easily read, rapidly accessible flood hazard map, which will prioritize the mitigation effects. This study addresses the need for an efficient and cost-effective methodology for preparing flood hazard maps in Ghana, particularly those region...

GIS-Based Spatial Mapping of Flash Flood Hazard in Makkah City, Saudi Arabia

Flash floods occur periodically in Makkah city, Saudi Arabia, due to several factors including its rugged topography and geological structures. Hence, precise assessment of floods becomes a more vital demand in development planning. A GIS-based methodology has been developed for quantifying and spatially mapping the flood characteristics. The core of this new approach is integrating several top...
